At Friday's lunch we will be offering roasted sweet potatoes grown at Survivor Farm (Luray, Page County) as one of our daily vegetable options. Today, we enjoyed quarter pound Burner's Beef (Luray, Page County) burgers. Elementary students had them topped with cheddar cheese made in Dayton (Rockingham County) at Shenandoah Valley Family Farms. Middle and High students enjoyed customizing their burgers on our burger bar (options included local cheddar cheese and local greens). Tossed salads today were made with greens from Stony Run Greenhouse (Shenandoah, Page County).

Mark your calendars for Springfield's Fall Carnival! We will be holding the carnival on Saturday, October 15th, from 3pm-6pm. From 3pm-5pm there will be games and prizes, a kid friendly "Haunted House" tour, face painting, a cake walk, a cotton candy station, monster mash dancing in the gym, a silent class pumpkin auction, and more. A child costume parade will take place from 5:00pm-5:15pm and then we'll go right into trunk-or-treating until 6pm. Plus, you and your child will get to vote on which teacher you think had the best costume! Entry is only $2 per person! This will be so much fun that it'll be SCARY!
