Dear PCPS Faculty, Staff and Families,
Late this afternoon, information was provided to PCPS from local law enforcement regarding a social media post showing a weapon and a threat listing the abbreviations for several locations. Two of those abbreviations were written as “Lhs” and “Lms”.
This post is in reference to school divisions in Maryland and does not have anything to do with Page County Public Schools, Luray High or Luray Middle schools.
We are sharing this information with you to let you know that we are aware of this post as is law enforcement and to assure you that this threat is not directed to PCPS, LHS, or LMS.
Thank you once again to our law enforcement partners for their responsiveness and continued support.
Parents and Guardians, please continue to have conversations with your children about making threats of any kind and the importance of reporting information to the school or law enforcement.
Thank you

Mark your calendars to attend this upcoming community event!

Mark your calendars for this upcoming community event.

PCMS- Come on out!

Please take a moment to read this joint letter from the division Superintendent in conjunction with the Page County Sheriff's Office and the Commonwealth Attorney: https://5il.co/2x167
Thank you!

Page County Public School’s Crisis Management Plan and Virginia State Code require schools to conduct safety drills throughout the school year. Some of these drills are announced and others are unannounced and include Fire, Tornado, Lockdown, Bus Evacuation, and Earthquake drills.
Page County Middle School will be conducting a Lockdown Drill on 9/23/24.
It is crucial that we remain vigilant and prepared. Conducting regular lockdown drills is a key part of our commitment to ensuring that everyone is ready to respond effectively in the unlikely event of an emergency.
During the drill, students and staff will practice the procedures for securing their classrooms and remaining quiet and calm until further notice. This exercise will help us identify any areas for improvement and ensure that our safety protocols are as effective as possible. School Resources Officers are involved in these drills and provide feedback to staff after drills.
Please reassure your children that on 9/23/24 the school is having a drill and it is important to practice what to do in the event of an emergency. Knowing what to do will help everyone stay safe. We will be guiding them through the process with sensitivity and care, emphasizing that these drills are a precautionary measure.
We understand that this topic can be unsettling, and we appreciate your support and understanding as we work together to maintain a safe learning environment. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and support.
Mrs. Miller, Principal Mrs. Hitt, Assistant Principal

PCMS- We hope to see you there!

Attention parents/guardians of children with disabilities, who reside in Page County:

Our first PTO Meeting for the year will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26 in the Conference Room. Please plan to join us and support our staff and students at Page Middle.

Good afternoon PCMS Faculty, Staff, and Families,
This afternoon a Page County Middle School student made a threatening comment toward another student. Threats of this nature are taken very seriously, law enforcement is involved and the student will be held accountable in accordance with the PCPS Student Handbook and Code of Conduct.
Please speak with your child about continuing to help us provide a safe and secure learning environment for everyone by not making threats of any kind. If you or your child become aware of any potential threats please immediately notify a school staff member, a school resource officer, or contact law enforcement.
We are committed to providing a safe learning environment for all students and staff.
Thank you for your continued support of Page County Middle School and PCPS.

Route 211 may remain closed for up to two hours. Alternate routes are recommended at this time. Families of Governor's School students are being contacted directly by the LHS or PCHS.

The community issue involving law enforcement on Route 211 near New Market Mountain has been resolved. Luray High School is moving back to normal operations.

There is a community issue involving law enforcement on Route 211 (near the New Market mountain). While the situation is contained to that area, Luray High School is in lock-in out of an abundance of caution. A lock-in means that students will be changing classes as normal, all students will be kept inside and early dismissals or transfers of students for the Tech Center will go as planned and are being monitored by the SRO and school administration.
Students returning from the Governor’s School are currently being held on Route 211 by law enforcement as all traffic in the area has been halted.
There is no direct threat to LHS students or staff or to any PCPS school - this is a precaution given the location of the police matter.
Thank you.

Dear PCPS Faculty, Staff and Families,
The Department of Criminal Justice Services has shared with school divisions a notice of a school shooting threat that is circulating nationally on social media through Snapchat, Instagram and TikTok. This threat is not specific to any person or school in Page County and it is believed that this is a mass distribution of a spam Snapchat image. However, we are still taking this seriously and will continue to monitor it throughout the day. At this time, there are no specific threats to our schools, staff or students.
We are in communication with local law enforcement. There will be an increased police presence at school throughout the day and at dismissal. This social media information is being monitored by multiple agencies and updates will be provided if needed.
As we have been sharing all week, please notify us or law enforcement if you hear or read anything of concern.
Thank you for your continued support and ongoing vigilance as we all work to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
Dr. Fox
Superintendent

Good afternoon PCHS and PCMS Faculty, Staff and Families,
Staff at PCMS and PCHS were alerted to a student making references to possibly having a weapon in their backpack. The student was immediately detained and searched and no weapon was found. At no time were students or staff in danger and there is no active threat related to this matter. We are notifying everyone to minimize rumors and reassure everyone that we are aware of the situation, it continues to be investigated and law enforcement is involved. The student will be held accountable in accordance with the PCPS Student Handbook and Code of Conduct and through law enforcement.
We want to assure you that we continue to take these reports very seriously with the safety of our students and staff continuing to be a top priority. While this particular report did not result in the discovery of a weapon, we are continuing to review our practices to ensure that we are doing everything possible to keep our school community safe.
Please know that we are committed to maintaining an environment where students and staff feel secure, and we continue to encourage all staff, students and families to report anything that may be concerning. Thank you to those who stepped up to bring this matter to the attention of adults today.
Thank you for your continued support of PCPS, PCMS and PCHS.
Dr. Fox
