Ok parents, your children finally got what you were probably wishing they'd get! (LOL)Today they got a taste of REALITY. In the annual Reality Store, which includes representatives from local businesses and organizations, students got to participate in a "life" model. They were told what job they have, how many children they have, marital status, etc. They then have to budget their money based on their salaries and social status. Students had to figure in such expenses as Health and Dental Insurance, Housing, Communications, Automobiles, Child Care, Clothing, etc. There were lots of "Life is expensive," "I have no money left," and "Can't my mom just pay for my bills forever?" This event is always well-received by students, and serves to open their eyes to the "real world" beyond high school.
A special thank you to those organizations and businesses that participate in this worthy event.

During a hands-on mini lab, students observed oxygen bubbles being released by plants in the presence of light—clear evidence of photosynthesis in action! By providing light energy, students were able to see how plants convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose while releasing oxygen as a byproduct.
Real science. Real observation. Real learning.
