LURAY HIGH SCHOOL

The students walked about 2 miles or more throughout the cemetery. Students were handed wreaths by volunteers and placed them at the gravestones of the United States Armed Forces members who lost their lives serving our nation.
Additionally, the students saw the Eternal Flame at the memorial for the Kennedy family and the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

This is a message from Dr. Paul Johnson, Acting Superintendent.
Due to low temperatures, Page County Public Schools will operate on a 2 hour delay tomorrow, Monday, December 15, 2025. 12 month employees are asked to report on time. Students are asked to report to their bus stops 2 hours later than you normally would.
Thank you, and please be safe.

Eight attendees were able to experience the "gallant seats" on stage during portions of the performance. This enabled our students to be active participants and interact with the performers of the production.
At the conclusion of the performance, the students experienced the "Actors Talk Back" for 15 minutes and later were able to have a group photograph on the Black Friar's Playhouse stage.

Due to the low overnight temperatures and the potential for patches of ice on our back roads, all Page County Public Schools will open on a two-hour delay on Tuesday, December 9. Our thought process is that this should enhance visibility for all drivers. 12-month staff are to report to work at 9 am. Students, please plan to arrive at your bus stop two hours later than you normally would. Thank you, and please stay safe.

Important Weather Related Information From PCPS-
All PCPS schools will be releasing at 1:30 pm. Offices will be closing at 2:30 pm, and all afternoon and evening events have been cancelled. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Please stay safe.
Thank you

Page County Community,
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigated a tricky weather event this morning. Our weather team was monitoring forecasts last night, and we were also out and about at 5 am this morning (Monday). At that time, the hourly forecasts were not predicting snow in this area, with all predictions focusing on the south. At 5 am hourly forecasts had Page County in the clear. We decided to come to school on time, believing that we were safe. By 7 am, light snow was falling in parts of Southern Page County. Unfortunately, at that point, buses were en route to school. We realize that this put us in a difficult position. I wish to send a huge thank you to our drivers who navigated this. We will continue to do our very best to keep students safe and make the best decisions that we can. Unfortunately, the forecasts changed on this one, putting us in a challenging position.

From Acting Superintendent, Dr. Paul Johnson--
Good Morning,
Many of our back roads are snow-covered, and snow is forecasted through 8 am this morning. With that in mind, all PCPS schools will be closed on Friday, December 5, 2025. 12-month staff should report at 11 am. At this time, no decision has been made regarding practices, games, and events. We will notify everyone when a final decision has been made.

From Acting Superintendent, Dr. Paul Johnson--
We are actively monitoring the weather forecast for Friday, December 5, as there is a potential for light snow overnight. Coupled with below-freezing temperatures, this could affect our morning travel. At this time, no decision has been made with regard to school tomorrow. We will evaluate road conditions early in the morning. If there is a need to delay or cancel school, we will announce by 5:30 am on Friday.
We thank you in advance for your continued patience as we work to ensure the safety of all faculty, staff, and students.
