This week we will be honoring our principals and assistant principals for all of the hard work they do for our students. If you see them out and about, please let them know how much you appreciate them. Luray Elementary School: Principal, Liz Dodson, and Assistant Principal, Jodi Foltz Ms. Dodson is in her first year as principal and Ms. Foltz is also in her first year as assistant principal at Luray Elementary School. Ms. Dodson said if she could have given advice to her younger self she would say not to take things personally. Her favorite time of the day is in the quiet of the early morning. Ms. Foltz says her advice to her younger self would be to practice humility- always put others first and you will receive blessings abundantly. Outside of school she enjoys working in her vegetable garden and cross stitching. Thank you Ms. Dodson and Ms. Foltz for all you do for Luray Elementary School.

Springfield Elementary School Principal: Craig Tutt Mr. Tutt has been the principal at Springfield Elementary School for three years. He is admired by his faculty and staff and the community he serves. There's not much he doesn't do for his Springfield Cardinals. Some fun facts about Mr. Tutt: His all-time favorite food is Sushi--Toro, Uni and anything Nigiri Outside of school he enjoys playing the guitar, watching sports on TV, and napping. Thanks for all you do, Mr. Tutt.

Possible Inclement Weather on Monday, January 24, 2022 PCPS is currently monitoring the possibility of inclement weather tonight that could impact our Monday morning commute to school and work. If a decision is needed to move to a two-hour delay, information will be shared with everyone by 5:30am. Notice to parents in the Shenandoah and Grovehill Area: This afternoon there will be two bus changes: Students living on McDaniel Lane and Rinaca Lane will ride bus 58 home. Bus 48 and Bus 2 will be combined this afternoon causing altered drop off times. The route will run in this order- 340 to Strole Farm Road to Grovehill River Rd to Riverbend Road to Newport Road to Rockingham Drive to 340 then to Battlecreek Road.

Notice to parents in the Grovehill/ Shenandoah Area- Bus 48 will be approximately 40 minutes late this morning. Rinaca Lane and McDaniel Lane will be picked up at approximately 7:30 am this morning by bus 58.

Thursday, Jan 20, 2022 Activities & Events Update All PCPS evening events are cancelled with the exception of the School Board meeting. Practices may be held at the school’s discretion but will end by 4:30pm. No student will be penalized for not being able to attend a practice due to unsafe road conditions in their area or due to a lack of transportation. Coaches will be communicating with players and families as soon as possible. Dates for events that can be rescheduled will be shared as soon as possible. Thank you.

Update on School Status Thursday, January 20, 2022 Good morning, Out of an abundance of caution and with varied conditions across the County impacting the safe passage on our roads, all PCPS schools will be closed today, Thursday, January 20, 2022. Decisions about afternoon and evening activities will be made later today and communicated. Information for staff will be emailed shortly. Thank you.

School Status Update for Thursday, January 20, 2022 All PCPS schools and offices will open on a two-hour delay on Thursday, January 20, 2022. However, due to the uncertainty of this particular weather event in our area, we will be reassessing forecasts late this evening and road conditions early tomorrow morning. If conditions deteriorate to the point where it is unsafe to put our buses, student drivers, or staff on the roads, we may have to cancel school. The decision to cancel school will be made no later than 7:00am. Additionally, please be advised that we have had to make a change to the school lunch menus for tomorrow and will update Friday’s menus as soon as possible. These updates can be viewed on the division website. We thank everyone for their continued patience and flexibility as we continue to make decisions that have everyone’s safety as the primary concern. Thank you and have a good evening.

PCPS Status for Wednesday, January 19, 2022 All PCPS schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, January 19, 2022 due to ongoing hazardous road conditions in some parts of the division. While roads in some areas are clear, there are roads across the division too hazardous for our school buses. A decision about events and activities on Wednesday will be made by noon and communicated to staff and families. All PCPS staff are asked to please check their email for additional information.
