Page County Public Schools

This morning, Dr. Huber had the pleasure of joining Mrs. Plum's Kindergarten class at Luray Elementary School. Today, there was practice with fine motor skills on a project to learn about the five senses. Next, Dr. Huber and the students read a story together that taught about kindness, and finally they learned the difference between fiction and nonfiction. During these activities Dr. Huber was witness to these young learners showing grit and determination as they practiced new skills. Mrs. Plum is a fantastic example of what great teaching and learning looks like in Page County Public Schools.

Yesterday, Dr. Huber was able to start his week off working with Springfield Elementary School 2nd graders, and to see their teacher, Miss Dudley, in action. Her classroom was a hub of learning, where students not only worked hard on reading and spelling, but also on soft skills like words of affirmation and encouragement for their classmates. Dr. Huber stated, "It was a great way to start off the week. Amazing things are happening in Page County." Our superintendent is thoroughly enjoying being able to visit classrooms to witness all of the learning that is taking place.

Today we celebrate all of our coaches within Page County Public Schools. To those of you who give tirelessly to help our academic and athletic athletes succeed, we thank you. You are role models, mentors, and motivators. You coach athletes that are playing a sport for the first time, as well as those who are headed to play at the college level, and you do this with patience, determination, and pride. We appreciate the long hours you dedicate to our school division to help mold our student athletes into not only competitive athletes, but also into good people who will remember the impact you made on their lives. Today, we celebrate you!

Yesterday, Dr. Huber had the opportunity to visit Page County High School where he joined the school counseling team to experience first-hand the Teen Mental Health First Aid group that provides lessons and activities to students. These lessons in Teen Mental Health First Aid are provided in partnership with Northwestern and PACA.
While at PCHS Dr. Huber was also able to visit Ms. Morton's Astronomy class, and he greatly enjoyed being able to witness the incredible work of the students,. staff and leaders. He said, "I returned to my office in the afternoon with a great sense of pride in being the Superintendent of Page County Public Schools."

Dr. Huber is enjoying the many invitations to schools and classrooms that have been extended to him. These visits allow him to see all of the meaningful learning taking place within our schools.
