Dear PCPS Faculty, Staff, and Families, At the end of this school year, Mrs. Cathy Marston, Page County Public School’s Director of Elementary Education, will be retiring from PCPS after 33 years of service. We are grateful to Mrs. Marston for her dedicated work over the years and we wish her all the best in his retirement. The position of Director of Elementary Education was realigned to a Director of Teaching & Learning for grades PreK-12 in the instructional department. Page County Public Schools (PCPS) is excited to announce that Mrs. Sara Hammill has been selected as the new Director of Teaching and Learning. Mrs. Hammill holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science and Secondary Education from Lyndon State College and a Masters of Science in Education - Administration and Supervision from Shenandoah University. Mrs. Hammill has seven years of teaching experience at the high school level, and 20 years of administrative experience as an assistant principal and principal at the elementary and secondary levels. Since 2021 Mrs. Hammill has served as the principal of Wayland Elementary School in Rockingham County. She has been nominated as a 2025 National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) National Distinguished Principal and is awaiting final notification of this award. Mrs. Hammill resides in Penn Laird, Virginia with her husband and two teenage children. Her philosophy of leadership is rooted in intentionality, collaboration, and the belief that strong relationships are the foundation of a thriving school community. She shared, “I see myself as a lead learner and believe in modeling curiosity, a purposeful approach and a growth mindset in all things. I am beyond excited to begin working in PCPS and look forward to joining in on the efforts to help students and schools thrive.” Mrs. Hammill will begin her new role as the Director of Teaching and Learning on July 1, 2025. Luray Middle is currently without power. Students will be dismissed as scheduled and any indoor after-school activities at LMS (such as rehearsals) have been cancelled. Outdoor practices and those at others schools will continue as scheduled.

At the Page County School Board meeting on Thursday, February 27, 2025, the Board voted to amend the 2024-2025 school calendar to provide additional instructional time. Monday, April 7, 2025, will now be a full school day for students instead of a student holiday. Kindergarten registration will still take place on April 7, and details about parent-teacher conference opportunities will be shared soon. Barring any further school closures, this will be the final calendar adjustment for the 2024-2025 school year. Thank you for your continued patience and support of PCPS. Dr. Fox

Mrs. Leake's Nurse Aide students have been learning about body systems and this week specifically, the circulatory system- what a way to celebrate Valentine's day! The girls are perfecting their blood pressure skill and are eager to obtain vital signs on the residents during their clinical rotation next month!
