An important message for Parents/Guardians of Luray Elementary School Students:
On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of last week a large number of LES students were around a person who has tested positive for COVID-19. PCPS just learned of this positive diagnosis late this afternoon. While students may have been around this person, none of the students are considered to be in close contact. Close contact is defined as being within six feet or less of someone for more than 15-minutes. Because students are not considered to be in close contact, they are not being quarantined at this time. Also, we know that as parents you want to know who this person is, but due to privacy considerations, we are not able to directly identify the person who has tested positive.
Given all of this information, out of an abundance of caution, and in conjunction with guidance from the Health Department, we are alerting parents to this information. At this time it is best that you closely monitor your child for any symptoms of COVID-19 and keep your child home if they are sick. If you feel it necessary to keep your child home tomorrow or Friday, we will consider the absence an excused absence. Please notify the school if this is your decision.
We appreciate your support in trying to ensure the health and well being of all students and staff. If you have questions, please call Mr. Tommy Pitts, the COVID-19 Liaison at (540) 778-7282 (extension 2609).
Thank you,
Dr. Fox

Happy National Coaches Day to all of those who coach for PCPS. We appreciate all the time and effort you put in to helping our students become, not just good athletes, but also good people. Thank you !

Page County Public Schools is excited to celebrate Virginia Farm to School week. Yesterday's lunch included meatloaf made with Burner's Beef meat grown in Luray. It's Taco Tuesday for lunch and we've made pico de gallo using tomatoes grown by Spring Valley Farm and Orchard in Augusta, WV; bell peppers (elementary schools) grown in Stanley, Luray, and Elkton; jalapeno peppers (middle and high schools) grown in Luray and Stanley. Special thanks to Public House Produce, PACA's Community Gardens, the Lowman Family, and an anonymous donor for the various peppers.
Today is also the annual Crunch Heard 'Round the Commonwealth. Students and staff throughout the division will be taking a "crunch" out of apples grown in Sperryville by Thornton River Orchard and Market.
