Bobbi Comer, PCHS FACS teacher

In honor of CTE month (February), PCPS would like to highlight the CTE teachers throughout our division! In each highlight, you will learn about the courses they teach, their years of experience in and out of the classroom, what drew them to teaching and the cool projects their CTE classes are completing! To them, we say "thank you" for all that you do each day to bring Career and Technical Education alive for our students!

What drew you to teaching?

I really wanted to work with students and hoped to help shape their values and character. I love to cook and bake, so Family and Consumer Sciences seemed a perfect fit. I loved the thought of teaching labs, not just book work.

What's your favorite thing about teaching?

Teaching is a combination of creativity, knowledge and fun! I love the "hands on" nature of my coursework and watching students succeed. I love my job and look forward to seeing the positive changes I see in students on a daily basis. Every day is different!

What project(s) are you most proud of so far this year?

This year, my students are involved in, "The Chef Project". This is a partnership between PCHS, LHS and Delaware North. Students are interning with the chefs from Skyland and Big Meadows Lodges. The chefs are teaching students restaurant food preparation skills, with the goal of possibly working for the company. When not in the kitchen, they are taking coursework for the ServSafe Food Handler exam. This week, they catered a gourmet meal for 50 people. It's been a fantastic work experience for the students!
